Preparing for Liftoff

After our first taste of winter, Barry and I have decided to follow the sun. We've found excellent housesitters - thank goodness Ranji has taken to them. I know there are plenty of 'pet friendly' caravan parks, but great danes aren't exactly in the category they welcome, and there's no room in the Kia.

We are in the process of 'backwards mapping'—originally a technique for designing teaching units. You begin with the learning outcomes (what you want the students to know) and work out what you have to do to achieve them. We are literally backwards mapping (thanks Google and Camps 8), our outcome is to be back by early September so trying to guess how long we will need to be at each destination. The rough plan is to caravan leisurely up the North Coast of NSW to be at Port Macquarie 27 June where I'm facilitating a creative writing workshop, then gradually wending to Brisbane to see Barry's sister and family. Then on to Rockhampton across to Longreach and Winton, Roma, Lightning Ridge, Moree, Tamworth, Armidale back down to the glorious south coast.
